Module Energy Rating MethodologyEndecon was awarded a contract in 1994
by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to develop a PV module rating based on energy rather than power. The intent of an energy rating is to provide PV module purchasers and users with a better comparison of
how modules will perform under various conditions. Endecon evaluated performance models, developed specifications for an appropriate weather database, and addressed a wide range of concerns in a single rating
method. A technical review committee representing PV manufacturers, system integrators, consultants, the national laboratories, and academia was organized to review project approach and results. The results
of the project are being used as the basis for a new IEEE standard. |
